POLYCHROMATIC LIGHT THERAPY

InLight polychromatic light therapy session supporting pain relief and nervous system balance

Why choose light therapy?

In our practice at AB Synergy, we use polychromatic light therapy daily with clients experiencing chronic pain, inflammation, fatigue, and slow recovery. We’ve found that when light therapy is applied consistently and tailored to the individual, it can support tissue recovery and nervous system regulation in a gentle, non-invasive way.

Light therapy reminds the body how to repair. We use it to jump-start relief in areas that are stuck in tension, inflammation, or fatigue — so you can move, sleep, and function without needing constant hands-on work. This therapy has been beneficial for those with:

  • Joint pain: neck, back, knuckles, elbow, knee, wrist
  • Inflammation and swelling
  • Arthritic pain
  • Bone fractures
  • Oral health
  • Bruises
  • Burns
  • Non-healing wounds
  • Surgical wounds, old surgeries that didn't heal properly
  • Peripheral neuropathy
  • Tight muscles
  • Mood Disorders / Sleep disorders
  • Stroke
  • TBI
  • Skin conditions

Light therapy sessions at AB Synergy are provided by certified practitioners trained in polychromatic light therapy and biofeedback-based wellness assessment. Our approach focuses on understanding how light interacts with the body’s natural regulatory systems rather than applying one-size-fits-all protocols.

Legally marketed as a Class II Medical Device under FDA indications for use to temporarily relieve minor pain, stiffness, and muscle spasms; and to temporarily increase local blood circulation.

We use FDA-cleared InLight systems because they allow precise, consistent light delivery tailored to individual tissue and nervous system needs.

What is light therapy?

Polychromatic Light Therapy (PLT) is a non-invasive therapy that uses multiple wavelengths of light—including visible red, blue, and invisible near-infrared (NIR)—to support your body’s natural healing response.

Near-infrared light is added to all our pads (the eye mask is the only exception) because it penetrates the deepest into tissues, helping to increase circulation, reduce inflammation, ease chronic pain, and promote tissue repair. Many people experience faster recovery, improved sensation, and long-lasting relief.

What makes this system unique is Inlight Therapy’s proprietary Progressive Multi-Pulse™ technology. What does that mean? It means that unlike static light therapy, this system delivers pulsed frequencies that keep your body actively engaged in healing—preventing plateaus and enhancing cellular response over time.

Each of your cells contains photoreceptors—tiny structures specifically designed to receive and respond to light. In essence, your body doesn't just respond to light—it needs light for optimal cellular function and vitality.

Light Therapy: What It Supports — and When It Makes Sense

Healing Benefits of Blue & Green Light

Blue Light Therapy (Wavelength: ~450–495 nm)

Blue light is well known for its effects on alertness, cognitive function, and skin health.

Therapeutic Benefits:

  1. Enhancing Cognitive Function – Blue light exposure increases alertness and boosts mental performance, especially in cases of fatigue or seasonal affective disorder (SAD).
  2. Regulating Sleep-Wake Cycles – While excessive blue light at night can suppress melatonin, controlled daytime exposure helps regulate circadian rhythms.
  3. Acne Treatment – Blue light has antibacterial properties, especially against Propionibacterium acnes, making it a natural acne treatment.
  4. Reducing Inflammation and Skin Conditions – It helps with eczema, psoriasis, and wound healing by modulating inflammatory responses.
  5. Boosting Energy Levels – Blue light exposure can help counteract fatigue and increase dopamine levels, improving motivation and focus.
  6. Blood Pressure Regulation – Some studies suggest blue light can help lower blood pressure by increasing nitric oxide production, leading to vasodilation.

Green Light Therapy (Wavelength: ~495–570 nm)

Green light is known for its soothing and balancing effects, particularly for pain relief and emotional well-being.

Therapeutic Benefits:

  1. Pain Reduction – Green light has been shown to help with chronic pain conditions like migraines, fibromyalgia, and neuropathic pain by modulating pain perception pathways.
  2. Calming Effects – It promotes relaxation and helps reduce stress and anxiety without causing drowsiness.
  3. Improved Sleep – Some studies suggest green light exposure before bed may help regulate the circadian rhythm without suppressing melatonin as strongly as blue light.
  4. Mood Enhancement – Green light has been found to have mild antidepressant effects by influencing serotonin production.
  5. Skin Healing – It helps with wound healing and can be used for conditions like rosacea and hyperpigmentation due to its ability to reduce inflammation.

Red light therapy applied to the neck to support tissue recovery and overall body balance.

Healing Benefits of Red & Near-Infrared Light

Red Light Therapy (600-700 nm)

Red light penetrates superficially into the skin and tissues (up to 5-10 mm deep), making it ideal for surface-level healing and skin health.

Therapeutic Benefits:

  1. Skin Rejuvenation & Collagen Production – Stimulates fibroblasts, increasing collagen and elastin for smoother, healthier skin. Helps reduce wrinkles, fine lines, and scars.
  2. Wound Healing & Tissue Repair – Speeds up recovery by promoting cell proliferation and regeneration.
  3. Pain & Inflammation Reduction – Reduces oxidative stress and inflammation, particularly in conditions like arthritis, muscle pain, and joint disorders.
  4. Hair Growth Stimulation – Helps combat hair thinning and loss by increasing circulation in hair follicles (used in androgenetic alopecia treatments).
  5. Mood & Cognitive Support – Can help alleviate seasonal affective disorder (SAD) and mild depression by supporting mitochondrial function in brain cells.
  6. Improved Circulation – Enhances blood flow and oxygen delivery, benefiting overall tissue health.

Near-Infrared (NIR) Light Therapy (700-1100 nm)

NIR light penetrates deeper into tissues and muscles (up to 5 cm deep), making it effective for internal healing, pain relief, and neurological benefits.

Therapeutic Benefits:

  1. Deep Tissue & Joint Healing – Effective for muscle recovery, joint pain, and ligament injuries, making it valuable for sports injuries and arthritis.
  2. Neurological Protection & Cognitive Function – Improves brain health, neuroplasticity, and mitochondrial function; has been studied for Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and traumatic brain injuries (TBI).
  3. Mitochondrial Energy Boost (ATP Production) – Enhances cellular energy (ATP) by activating cytochrome c oxidase in mitochondria, optimizing overall energy metabolism.
  4. Reduction of Chronic Inflammation – Helps autoimmune conditions, including fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, and chronic fatigue syndrome.
  5. Improved Blood Flow & Oxygenation – Supports cardiovascular health by increasing nitric oxide production, which lowers blood pressure and improves circulation.
  6. Immune System Support – Stimulates immune cells to enhance immune function and resilience against infections.
  7. Wound Healing & Scar Reduction – Similar to red light but works at a deeper level, making it effective for post-surgical healing and burn recovery.

LED light therapy pads placed on different areas of the body for non-invasive wellness support

Designed for Simplicity and Convenience

Inlight Therapy offers an advanced approach to light therapy by combining multiple wavelengths—such as red, blue, and near-infrared light—in a single session. Unlike traditional light therapy, which uses just one color at a time, Inlight’s therapy pads deliver two or more wavelengths simultaneously, reaching different depths of tissue for a more complete effect.

What makes this system stand out is its Progressive Multi-Pulse™ technology. By pulsing the light at varying frequencies, the therapy continues to stimulate the body’s healing response without reaching a plateau—enhancing results and supporting long-term balance.

Designed with ease and comfort in mind, Inlight Therapy systems are simple to use at home or on the go. Just place the flexible LED pads near the area you’d like to support and press Start—each session lasts about 20 minutes. The pads come in a variety of shapes and sizes to accommodate both large areas and more targeted needs, such as:

  • Straight or flexed joints
  • Localized pain or discomfort
  • Broad surface areas

The system features soft, comfortable neoprene therapy pads, adjustable hook-and-loop straps to keep them in place, intuitive controls, and both pre-programmed and manual settings. Every system includes a detailed user guide to help you get started with confidence.

How light therapy works

Light is an essential nutrient of life. Using the sun’s light as therapy dates back thousands of years. Modern science has evolved the engineered delivery of the beneficial wavelengths (colors) of the sun’s light into low-level light therapy (LLLT) technology / Polychromatic Light Therapy (PLT).

Polychromatic light therapy uses specific wavelengths of light that have been studied for their interaction with cellular and tissue-level processes. In clinical and wellness settings, light therapy is commonly used to support circulation, tissue repair, and nervous system regulation by influencing how cells respond to energy.

PLT is delivered via light emitting diode (LED) pads placed on the body that emit infrared, red and blue radiation. The light can penetrate to different depths inside the biological tissue where they get naturally absorbed into cells. The absorbed light can stimulate the energy of the cells for repair and regeneration, improve blood circulation – one of the vital components of the healing process.
